THE OBSIDIAN - Salvatore De Pasquale has been working obsidian using only a chisel for twenty-five years. He was the first and till now the only sculptor who has given artistic form to this mineral. There aren't, in fact, in the past traces of figurative arts realized with this mineral. Only a soft and precise touch, owed to a long working experience, could avoid destroying the glassy mass. The same touch is able to give obsidian various shapes, not only conchoid fractures, and to make it showing the typical reflection seen in cats' eyes.

Libertà, bronzo

The exhibited his works for the first time in Messina at "Il Fondaco" Gallery in 1972. From then onwards he took part in many national and international art-exhibitions. He also personally exhibited in Bari, Formia, Bruxelles, Rome, Moderate, Florence, Viterbo, Vitorchiano, Legnano, Altomonte, Norcia, Eolie Islands, Taormina, Alcamo, Granites, etc. He received prizes and acknowledgementss.
